Enabling people in need to Human Powered Transport Options

Bringing BIkes to People In Need

Europe has the infrastructure and I’m lucky enough to have the financial means to simply pay for mobility such as trains and busses and comfortably get to Cote D’Azur from Cologne in a few hours. No need to use my legs, my skates, my core. I can simply pay, hop onto any fossil fuel powered means of transport and enjoy my leisure time between the sea breeze, baguette and good cheese in the south of France.

However, for many inhabitants of the world, getting from A to B is a daily struggle. Nearly one billion people in rural regions of the world live in communities far from the nearest paved road, walking for miles each day just to survive.

On foot, individuals race against the sun to complete everyday tasks. Distance is a barrier to attending school, receiving healthcare, delivering goods to market and other critical services needed to thrive.

As much as I personally love Inline Skates, they are – for obvious reasons – not the best option to pragmatically master a daily commute for everyone. On the other hand, having a bicycle can change lives – and give access to education, jobs, and health care as well as provide independence to those, who need it.

The fantastic organisation World Bicycle Relief has been doing just this since already 20 years and has transformed the lives of more than 4 million people worldwide. They have created a world where mobility provides those people in need with possibilities.

With my adventure of Skating from Cologne to Cote D’Azur, I’m planning to raise awareness for the purposeful mission of Global Bicycle Relief.

For every rolled kilometer, I’m donating 0.10 Cents at the end of my journey – Currently aiming for 1.300+ kilometer, rounded up, it will lead to one Buffalo-Bike at the costs of 147€.

That way, with moving by Human Powered Transport for 1.000+ kilometers, I’m trying to make a change to at least one person in this world and if you feel like you’d want to the same, I’d be so grateful, if you support with a few euros as well on the fundraising course :)!
