My first skatepacking tour of 100 km with 3 friends on a bike – alongside beautiful old ancient towns, gorgeous landscapes and curios sheep.

Have you ever been on a vacation to Belgium? If no, you should! I’ve only discovered the beauty of the small neighour of the Netherlands a couple of years ago, but since then deeply fell in love with their relaxed culture, gorgeuous architecture and of course their well brewed and flavoured beers.
Back in 2024, I’ve started to dream about Skatepacking. Being honest, possibly, I’ve been a bit too optimistic back then when I imagined, I’d start in the most northern part of Europe in Skandinavia and then take one summer’s period and skate all the way down to my most favorite country in the world, Italy. I’ll just carry a small tent and everything in my backpack and life will be good.
In order to check how realistic this long distance skating is, 3 of my friends and I decided to test skatepacking on a slightly shorter distance. We’ve picked one of the smallest countries. We’ve crossed Belgium.

In places, the path narrows, turning into a more rustic stretch where the smooth tarmac gives way to rougher patches. I adjust my stride, mindful of small stones that threaten to catch a wheel. But the beauty of the Flemish countryside makes up for it—endless green fields, occasional bursts of wildflowers, and farmhouses that seem untouched by time.
Back on the path, the ride becomes even more scenic. The Dender merges with the Scheldt, and the trail follows its bends, leading me past small docks and boats rocking gently in the water. The closer we get to Ghent, the busier the roads become, but the cycling infrastructure here is fantastic. A dedicated lane lets us weave smoothly toward the city, passing under trees that cast shifting shadows on the pavement.
Unfortunately, the rain wasn’t quite on our side and XX

We’ve packed up out tents, got ready and rolled the first couple of kilometers to a supermarket parking space with a small café. Portions were massive …
